This is my perspective of Castle Hill Light, standing sentinel on its steep granite cliff face. I wanted to capture the distinct character of this historic beacon, so I chose this low angle to emphasize the rich, moss-covered textures of the ancient rocks that have weathered countless storms.
I captured this shot from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial just as the first light of day began to break. The Reflecting Pool was completely motionless, giving me a flawless, glass-like surface that perfectly mirrored the central silhouette of the Washington Monument.
